NOTES
Vocalist Lauren Michaels has put together a band featuring some of Colorado's most accomplished musicians on her new release 'Double Crossed Heart'.
With telecasters, pedal steel, fiddle and mandolin, the songs are firmly in the Texas Alt Country tradition, but with a modern sound that appeals to listeners who aren't big fans of Country music.
The eleven originals on the album, written by band-mates Sandy Craig and Michael Howard also contain her first co-write: 'Whole Lotta Nope'.
Says Lauren: "I plan to do a lot more writing this coming year, my band now is the sound I've been looking for for a long time.."
Nothing helps the songwriting process more than real life heartache, and this album has plenty of tears and twang, like a good Country song should; check out 'Love is a Beautiful Thing'.
The one cover song on the album: 'Misery And Gin' features Merle Haggard Band member Eugene Moles on guitar, with Lauren giving a world class job on vocals.
It's not all hurtin' songs though, topics like serial murders: 'Black Widow Of Omaha', instant attraction: 'Love At First Sight', and eternal love: 'Lexie Loo', are here as well, all in toe-tapping, dance-able melodies with great musicianship throughout. There is even a song about the gemstone miners of Colorado: 'Colorado Blue'.
"We hope you enjoy 'Double Crossed Heart' as much as we enjoyed making it!"
